Carnival Fantasy Cruise Ship Coast Guard Rescue – March 2009
Returning to New Orleans from Cozumel, Mexico on the Carnival Fantasy ( March 29th, 2009 ) and noticed the crew had caution taped the whole back of the ship. Hours later, in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico (depth 11,000 ft.) one of our HH-60 helicopters appeared. They did a fantastic job staying with the ship at about 20 knots. I caught the end on video, where the USCG rescuer was lifted back to the helicopter and they got on their way.
