Costume ideas for athletics carnival?

Posted on June 22nd, 2010 by admin in carnival costumes | 2 Comments »

theres a sports carnival coming up for school and im the mascot. They decided for a superhero theme but i cant think of any heroes/villains that were majority gold/yellow, coz thats my house colour.

Any ideas are much appreciated.

I don’t know if he is really a super hero but what about Bumblebee from Transformers?
The Whizzer
X-men
Yellow Power Ranger

What about making your own sugerhero that goes along with your schools mascot.

feb 2011 i want to be in a trinidad carnival. How do I get involved in the parade?

I would also like any pricing on the costumes as well or the pricing of being apart of the band? Please let me know the pricing in USD please any information is appreciated. Also which hotels are near the main activities in port of spain would be best suitable to stay in…….I’m an early planner I like to book things early. Thankyou guys in advance…..also how long should I stay to fully enjoy myself and how much money should I bring to spend?

Great to hear that you’re interested in being in T&T for Carnival 2011.
The best time to start planning is now. Book your airfare and accommodation as early as possible.

Accomodation: Range from high end like Marriott, Hilton, Carlton Savannah, Hyatt and the like. There are mid-price options, cheaper options like Normandie, Kapok, Cascadia, Allicia’s, Monique’s etc, etc. Prices can range from as little as $40US/per night upwards depending on where you stay, how long you plan to stay for and WHEN you plan to be here. NB:- hotel and airfare prices tend to sky-rocket around Carnival-time in T&T.

Regarding playing in a band, i.e. being part of the parade, check out TRIBE, Harts, Island People, Mac Farlane, D’Krewe, Pulse 8, Legacy and Ronni & Caro (do a google search…you’ll get hits). These are some of the more noted bands. There are others of course.
There is also the option of being part of Jourvert (ah know ah spell dat wrong!!!) check out Brian wong, Cocoa Devils, Red Ants and Mudders Inc

Money: Costume prices alone can set you back a minimum of about $300 to $500US if you want to play in one of the more sought after bands. And if youu want one of the fancier costumes then you should look at spending around $1000US (may be less though).

Where is a good place to buy adult halloween costumes?

Posted on June 16th, 2010 by admin in carnival costumes | 8 Comments »

My boyfriend and I are dressing up this year for this halloween party. We were thinking Danny and Sandy off of Grease. Yet, when Sandy is in black at the end of the movie, at the school carnival. Where can I get her outfit?

I would have to say either Spencer’s Gifts or online at one of many websites (i.e. BuyCostumes.com, CostumeExpress.com, PartyCity.com, etc.) These sites have a great selection – not to mention decent prices!

Where can i get carnival costumes to rent in Nyc??!! PLZ helP! Running out of time!?

Posted on June 5th, 2010 by admin in carnival costumes | 1 Comment »

II am supposed to be the youth ambassador for the Caribbean pavilion for folkfest this year (or carnival as some places call it) and i’m not in the city to get the pictures taken..Which is the coolest part of the job cause everyone in my city gets to see them. It goes on buses in the advertisements. So if I can find a place that rents the carnival costumes I could go and take the pictures here where I am now and send it to them so I don’t miss out. Please Help I worked really hard to get the position and I don’t want to miss out on the best part!
Ps: preferably the out fits with the feather headdress bra top/ beads the whole works real carnival.
And if not maybe a really nice bandana dress
Hopefully something close to the Yonkers NY area . I only have a few days to do this so Hit me up ppl!!! :D
Thanks a bunch!!!

Go to your yellow pages online and search for costume shops.
