When did you start letting your child ride on the carnival rides?
You know, like the little cars/boats that go around in circles and they can ‘pretend’ to drive? They have seatbelts, so you buckle them in and let them go.
It’s almost carnival season around this area (in fact, one is setting up right now in the parking lot across from where I work)… I’m wondering if Johnny is too little to ride on those rides. He’s 18 months.

i done never yet let my kids ride. they 4, 3 and 1. but you know. the 4 year old pup he do love the big elephant ride at arcadeland. normal they dont aloww pups but they know him already and let him ride the elephant with the other babys. i dont let my kids tho cause incase the wire snap. i know the 4 year old pup can handle if the wire snap cause he seen what to do on wubzie the one when the wire snapped and wiget fell and wubzie tryed to catch him. so the pup knows but the babys act like they dont know what to do if the wire snap and the kids that work at arcadeland dont seem like they know what to do.
your baby is cute tho.

Aidan was exactly 18 months old. It was at the 4th of July carnival. He had a blast!!! Those are some of my favorite pictures. : )
(The same day he also rode a horse and posed on a Longhorn w/ me.)
ETA: I told you I don’t do math…. he was 17 months old….

I don’t think that is too young. Our girls were probably a few months shy of being three and our son was probably three (actually his birthday) the first time they got on those rides. In our case it was because of when it was available to us…if it had been sooner we may of started sooner.

I put Riley on a small carnival ride with Tyler, my niece (who was 4 at the time) & my little SIL (who was 6) last summer. Riley was about 9 months old. Obviously he’s a squirmer and slid down, I had to yell at the dumb operator to stop the ride so i could get him before the seatbelt choked him. My stupid mistake. Never again.
This year he should be able to ride kiddie rides at the amusement park. He knows how to sit and hold on now. LoL.
Johnny should be just fine riding kiddie rides. You should come up and go to Kennywood with us this summer! They have a pretty decently-sized kiddieland. I’m excited!

I let my first child (now 10) ride at 1 1/2. She got lice and it was very hard to treat because of her age. Take my advice and stick to the animal area. They like it better there anyway.

I was a bit overprotective with it. My fear was that my son (who did not sit still for anything and had NO FEAR would try to jump out.)
I waited I believe until he was around 2. But you know your son. If he’ll sit and enjoy it then I doubt he’s too young. I watched a mother put a 6 month old baby on a ride with her 3 year old at an amusement park once. Why the person running the ride allowed it I will never know. The baby kept slipping down and out of the arms of the 3 year old until she was laying on the floor screaming. I asked them to stop the ride so I could take my kids off just so we didn’t have to watch the sadness and ridiculousness of the whole thing.
I’d say your son will love it and you’ll love it even more!!! How exciting. It’s a lot of fun to watch them be amazed at those rides.

As soon as they knew how to sit still and hold on.
I was more scared then my kids were. They were fine all that worrying for nothing.

We went to knotts and Bella went on several rides with me. I asked the management at the park what the requirement was for slow rides such as those. They told me if they could sit on their own, they could ride with someone over the height limit. We’re going to Leggo land in June and I can’t wait for her to go on that boat ride!!!
